My paintings aspire to be more than pretty pictures; in the natural world I find places that speak about movement, on the picture plane, in physical landscape, and especially metaphorical movement, that which we make in our life journey. The work is intended as a reminder of the paths available to us if we will wake up and be aware.

Technically, I try to minimize gesture, to speak solely through compositional elements and aim for an appearance of anonymity. Although subject is a crucial impetus, the references I start from are freely arranged; composition is my most crucial tool and task.
