About John Nieman
John Nieman has always been fascinated by the nexus of art and pop culture. Consequently, he often intertwines those forces into paintings that have been exhibited in America, Europe, Asia and Canada.
For years, he enjoyed a successful career in the advertising business, most recently as Chief Creative Officer of D’Arcy Worldwide. In this capacity, he directed and oversaw the creative output of more than 100 offices.
Almost a decade ago, he devoted himself to the visual arts. He studied with Julie Lester in New York, and quickly moved on to a prolific output of still studies. His work is characterized by striking composition, crisp colors, and strong shadows. He has a photo realistic sensibility and favors pastels and watercolors. Given his background in the communication world, he particularly enjoys creating work that tells a visual story.
Mr, Nieman has been exhibited in twenty different venues over the past two years. His work has been featured in national and international juried competitions. Collections of his paintings and poems have been published in books called Art of Lists and Art of More Lists. He is currently represented by Agora Gallery in New York City. His website is www.johnnieman.com
He resides in Dobbs Ferry, New York, with his five children.
