I am an abstract painter who experiments with organic forms and textures to capture a quality of space and time. Turning away from the purely representational, I am fascinated by the suggestive power of color, shape and texture and the process through which the real can be distilled to achieve an abstract form.

I paint much like a musician composes. The relationships of color, form and texture provide the structural elements in my work, not unlike the structure provided by key, time (measure), and notes (rhythm), in a Bach fugue. Each painting emerges as I work on it, taking on a life of its own.

My life and aesthetic are intimately connected to nature, which provides the emotional canvas from which I draw a large part of my inspiration. As I see it, my works resonate with elements drawn from the natural world, juxtaposed with my experiments in the immediacy of gestural strokes and viscose surfaces. The process is one of ongoing discovery about combinations of paint, media and materials as well as about my own responses to color and form.

My paintings suggest a sense of motion and suspension in space and time. Through associations and feelings, they engage the viewer in a conversation with the work that is at once intuitive and reflective – probing its deep sense of mystery, broadening the viewer’s own sense of reality and heightening his awareness of the infinite.

Painting is to me a means of expression without limits.
