Artist Statement

My work explores the relationship between nature, memory, imagination, and the human experience. Growing up in Norway near the fjords, I developed a lasting connection to water, birds, and the natural world. These influences continue to appear in my paintings, drawings, and assemblages, where organic forms, human-made elements, and personal symbols come together to create imagined landscapes. I am interested in the space between reality and dreams, and in the way images can carry both beauty and contradiction. My work often develops through layers of densely worked forms, found objects, color, and recurring symbols that create a personal mythology. Nature is both a subject and a reminder of our connection to the world around us. Through painting and mixed media, I explore ideas of transformation, memory, vulnerability, and hope, creating visual worlds where the familiar and the imagined can exist together.
