Viridian Artists Gallery is excited to present our first SUMMER JURIED EXHIBITION juried by Rebecca Ribeiro, curatorial assistant at the Neuberger Museum of Art. The exhibition will run from Tuesday, July 14, through Saturday, August 1, 2026.  An Opening Reception will be on Thursday, July 16th from 6 to 8 PM with a Closing Reception on Saturday, August 1, 2026.

30 artists will be selected, with 1st, 2nd and 3rd place cash prizes awarded.  All winners will be part of a group show in our Chelsea gallery space, and will also be listed on Artsy and Viridian Artist's website.

The deadline for submissions has been extended to Sunday, June 14th, 2026.

Juror Rebecca Elisabeta Marya (Rem) Ribeiro currently works in the curatorial department at the Neuberger Museum of Art, SUNY Purchase, and is an adjunct professor in the Art Department at SUNY Rockland Community College. She received her master’s degree from SUNY Purchase in Modern and Contemporary Art, Criticism, and Theory, with a concentration in Museology and Curatorial Studies. She also holds a bachelor’s degree from Manhattanville University in both Art History, and Creative and Professional Writing. Her curatorial work and interests are deeply grounded in existential philosophy, feminism, and queer theory. Her most recent exhibitions include: “Liminal in Nature,” and “Guerrilla Girls: Food for Thought”.

Viridian Artists Gallery is proud to present our 34th International Juried Exhibition, juried by Shilpi Chandra, Assistant Curator at the Hudson River Museum. The exhibition will be on view from April 21 through May 9, 2026. An Opening Reception will take place on Thursday, April 23, from 6–8 PM followed by a Closing Reception on Saturday, May 9, from 4–6 PM. 

Congratulations to our 1st prize winner, SUSAN ROLLINS, for her atmospheric painting Appelsínugul Rönd;  2nd prize winner, SUSAN COSTES, for her humorous portrait painting A Bit Wonky; and 3rd prize winner, MARIA COLETSIS, for her environmental themed photograph Seamless: Horizon, all selected by Shilpi Chandra.

The 2026 Annual HERstory Invitational:

This March, Viridian Artists will hold our 2026 annual HERstory invitational show curated by Vernita Nemec. HERstory is an exhibition dedicated to the experiences, viewpoints, and history of women.

Artists of all genders are invited to submit work that engages with Women’s History Month. Submissions should address this year’s theme: “commemorating and encouraging the study, observance, and celebration of the vital role of women in American history.” Historically, women’s contributions have too often been overlooked, and in recent years, hard-won rights have been rolled back. Artists are encouraged to reflect on these realities, past and present, in the work they submit.

    Vernita Nemec     is an artist and independent curator, the Director of Viridian Artists and on the Board of Advisors of Soho20 in Chelsea NYC. She is the former Executive Director of Artists Talk On Art in New York City and the creator & curator of “Art from Detritus: Recycling with Imagination” exhibitions throughout the US. She has also curated & juried exhibits for Womanhouse Gallery in Chicago, West Windsor Art Center in Princeton, the Sculptors Alliance and curates exhibits at Sabay Cafe curatorial space in New York City.
