Judy Waller
Artist Bio
Judy Waller was born in Canada and grew up on a remote farm in Eastern Ontario, where art became her escape and her way of connecting with the world. Surrounded by animals and open fields, creating came naturally. After her family moved to the United States and settled in Tampa, Florida, Judy left home to find stronger artistic communities. She first moved to San Francisco and lived at Project Artaud, an active art collective where she was part of an experimental and collaborative environment. Later she lived in New York City, running a successful design business while staying closely connected to the art world through other artists. Balancing her creative goals with the reality of needing to support herself shaped both her work and her outlook.
After returning to Florida, Judy built a career in child welfare and raised a family. Those responsibilities left little time for making art, but the desire never went away. It stayed in the background—quick sketches, ideas, and the quiet intention to return to her practice when life allowed.
Today, Judy works in oil painting and mixed-media assemblage. Her current body of work, The Edge of My Here, explores the space between dreams and reality, memory and perception. The pieces invite viewers into a liminal world where the familiar fades and new possibilities open.
