Meredeth Turshen

Artist's Statement

I am an artist, teacher, and writer whose work explores the natural world through landscape and still life. My practice reflects on the forms, rhythms, and visual experiences found in nature, which I sometimes translate into non-figurative and abstract compositions.

Working across a range of media and approaches, I am interested in the relationship between observation and abstraction, and in how the familiar elements of the natural world can be transformed through color, form, and composition. My work is informed by a longstanding engagement with both representational and abstract approaches to art. www.meredethturshen.com
