Artist Statement

I am a representational and figurative painter working primarily in oil and acrylic. My paintings explore people, places, and the everyday world through close observation and a commitment to traditional painting practices.

My work is rooted in the study of the figure and landscape, with an interest in capturing the character, atmosphere, and particularity of my subjects. I am drawn to the possibilities of painting as a way of looking closely at the world and translating lived experience into color, form, and light.

My approach has been shaped by years of study at the Art Students League of New York, as well as by a continuing engagement with portraiture, landscape, and representational painting.
