Artist Statement

Stephanie Lempres creates contemporary abstract paintings that combine layered planes of color, bold brushwork, fine lines, loose mark-making, and carefully considered technique. Her work explores the tension between structure and spontaneity, creating contrasting and complementary relationships that invite the viewer to look more closely.

Inspired by nature, light, and the feeling of an endless summer, Lempres’ paintings evoke a sense of possibility, freedom, and connection to the natural world. Biography

Stephanie Lempres is a contemporary abstract artist based in California. Her work combines geometric structure, expressive brushwork, layered color, and references to landscape and nature.

While living in Paris from 2021 to 2022, Lempres began exhibiting her work in a small pop-up gallery on Rue des Saints-Pères in the 6th arrondissement. Inspired by Parisian architecture, design, and interiors, she created a series of elegant, small-scale geometric paintings for her exhibition Bienvenue à L’Été. Proceeds from the exhibition were donated to charity.

After returning to the United States and settling near the California coast, Lempres’ work evolved toward colorful abstractions and landscapes inspired by the sea, sky, light, and expansive spaces of the western United States.

Lempres is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and Georgetown University. Her work has been exhibited in California, New York, Florida, Massachusetts, and Paris.
